These pictures are taken during the Developing Self-Esteem and Communication Skills Seminar held last July 21, 2009 at the UP Manila Social Hall. The program has been sponsored by the UP Manila Center for Gender and Women Studies and was facilitated by the director of CGWS, Dr. Anthony Geronimo H. Cordero. This the first activity which emphasized the importance of communication and understanding. The game is about arranging the members in accordance to the characteristics that have been described by the facilitator.
This is the second activity wherein the facilitator instructed the participants to create their own rules and rights assuming that each group was stranded in an unchartered and uninhabited island.
The Director of the CGWS, Dr. Anthony Geronimo H. Cordero have been the facilitator of the seminar workshop.
The last activity focused on how to manage a meeting. Each participant was given its role in the said meeting, and the challenge was how to make the meeting harmonious and productive.
The final words has been delivered by the UP Manila Vice-Chancellor for Administration Dr. Orlino O. Talens.
The University of the Philippines Manila Center for Gender and Women Studies was created under Chancellor Perla Santos Ocampo's Women's Health and Development Program in 1997 and was first headed by Dr. Susy Pineda Mercado. The Board of Regents officially approved the establishment of CGWS in 1998.
The current Director of UPM CGWS is Dr. Anthony Geronimo H. Cordero, a faculty of UP College of Medicine and a Staff of UP-Philippine General Hospital Family Medicine and Community Health Department. The University Research Associate of CGWS is Mae Lin Jiwani L. Lactaoen, an alumni of UP Manila.
